Ten years ago, few women could make a 3-point shot in a basketball game. Now, it’s almost an expected skill.
Got me wondering…could I learn how to make a 3-point shot?
- I talked to my Pilates trainer to see how working on a 3-point shot would impact some rehab work I’ve been doing.
- I got the green light.
Fast forward a month or so… I now belong to a local gym.
- I discover I can barely throw the ball three feet – and, even that close, my aim sucks!
- It makes sense – growing up, I wasn’t allowed to play basketball and have never been an athlete.
- AND, NONE of that diminishes my enthusiasm.
I did some research at the gym – and hit the jackpot!
One of the trainers there, Joey, a former point guard, was willing to help me on my quest.
Two months filled with 1,000+ attempted baskets – as well as lifting weights to give me more power – brought me to this week…
🏀 🏀 This Monday, I made a basket from the Free Throw Line – my first! 🏀 🏀
What a rush!
- Joey and I both cheered and high-fived.
- I felt like I was walking on air – so magical.
I still have another six or so feet to go to reach the 3-point line – AND who cares?!
- This week has been one big happy dance – and my Rockstar energy shining bright.
- Work is easier.
- Life feels personally very good.
Joey upped my weights quite a bit yesterday to start prepping me to throw the extra six feet.
- I’m already dreaming of my 3-point basket – and making it with ease!
As a fellow Rockstar, what is YOUR 3-point shot? 🏀
