Chad belonged to the chapter for a few years.
He showed up regularly but hadn’t quite found his niche yet – in spite of being very committed to the mission of the chapter.
Sally was in charge of the chapter’s legislative team.
An important issue was being discussed in the state government and all chapters were asked to start pressing their legislators.
Sally needed a special team to testify before a House committee.
Sally was aware of Chad’s belief in their efforts and asked him to be part of the team to testify.
Chad was over the moon.
What a cool opportunity – and right up his alley.
On the day of the testifying, Chad was nervous and excited. He had never done this before.
When he got in front of the legislators, he was the picture of calm and confidence.
He did a great job.
To his delight, Sally caught him in action with her phone camera – and sent him a few photos.
Chad shared them on Facebook and Instagram.
Friends and family were impressed.
The next week, the chapter newsletter hit.
An article by Sally updated the chapter on their efforts at the capital.
It included a fabulous photo of Chad in action testifying.
The featured photo was a pleasant surprise for Chad – and made him feel good about saying yes to Sally.
Chad finally felt like a real member of the chapter.
